Dr. Edward Shun earned his Bachelor of Medical Sciences with an Honors Specialization in Pathology (with distinction) from the University of Western Ontario in 2017. He continued his education at the prestigious University of Toronto, graduating from dental school in 2021. During his studies, he was recognized for his academic excellence, receiving the J.N. Wilkinson Prize in 2018 for achieving the highest marks in microbiology among first-year dental students.
In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Shun demonstrated a commitment to community service, volunteering with the On Your Mark academic support program during dental school, as well as with Frontier College (now United for Literacy) during his undergraduate years, helping elementary school students with their studies.
Committed to staying at the forefront of his field, Dr. Shun has completed various continuing education courses, including training in oral and nitrous oxide sedation at the University of Toronto in 2024, and courses on managing medical emergencies in a dental office. He has also pursued specialized training in implant restoration (Durban Dental Laboratories, 2023) and Invisalign Fundamentals (2023). Dr. Shun maintains active memberships in the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Ontario Dental Association, and the Canadian Dental Association.
Growing up and currently residing in Markham, Dr. Shun values the opportunity to give back to his community. In his free time, he enjoys a variety of activities, including tennis, skating, and indoor bouldering. He is also fluent in Cantonese, allowing him to connect with a broader range of patients and enhance their experience at the dental office.
